Job Details

The First Assistant Engineer (Second Engineer) reports directly to the Chief Engineer and assists in the safe operation, maintenance, and supervision of all engine room machinery and engineering personnel. This role plays a key part in implementing planned maintenance, supporting cargo operations, and ensuring the efficient performance of the Engine Department.

Responsibilities
  • Valid Second Engineer Certificate of Competency.
  • Valid STCW certification and required Flag State endorsements.
  • Experience operating and maintaining marine propulsion and auxiliary machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS).
  • Familiarity with cargo handling machinery and engineering support systems.
  • Good understanding of SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and MLC 2006.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
Requirements
